6F - Potter Heads

Welcome to the Spring term!!

In English we will be revising a range of texts and children will be encouraged to reflect critically on the text and make comparisons between this text and others.  Also, children will continue to practise their reading comprehension skills and their ability to read, analyse texts.We will be studying narrative poetry based on The Bethlehem poem.  We will also be looking at the text Wonder and The Matchbox Diary alongside activities for grammar and punctuation.

 

Children will be revising the four rules, money and real life problems, fractions, decimals and percentages. Investigations will also take place into data handling involving the analysis and construction of pie charts, line graphs and conversion charts.  In addition, children will be developing their understanding of the properties of 2 and 3 D shapes.We will continue to develop our mental maths and improve times tables, using Times Table Rockstars as well as independent targets for the Maths Explorer.

In Science we will focus on Animals, including humans. This will include investigations into how our body reacts to exercise etc. We will look at how the heart and lungs function.

Our RE topic will be looking at Jesus the Messiah and why people chose to follow Jesus?

Our curriculum topic is TIME TRAVELLERS for Spring 1 and Rainforests for Spring 2!! We are going to continue to travel through time to World War 2, looking at the artwork of Henry Moore and then travel across the world to Brazil.
