Learning and Teaching

All the staff work hard at St. Peter’s to ensure that Learning and Teaching is of a high standard. Core subjects such as Literacy and Mathematics are taught daily and assessed regularly. Assessment results are shared with each child during ‘star week’ where they get the opportunity to reflect and consider new targets.

We are currently working hard to have a more skills based creative curriculum that will give all of our pupils life skills through a challenging thinking environment. We are approaching this from the Autumn term by identifying themes which will have cross curricular links and therefore be taught in a more meaningful context.

We also incorporate many ‘Assessment for learning’ (AFL) strategies to equip all of our pupils with the skills of being aware of their own learning. This also will give them targets and skills to move their learning forward.
