English
The school follows the National Literacy Strategy. Throughout the school, Writing, Spelling and Handwriting are developed with changing emphasis as children grow in competence and maturity. English has many aspects and these have to be managed by the class teacher to fit into the teaching week. Learning needs are catered for in ways that reflect individual needs, with some groups being occasionally withdrawn for specific teaching. Children's work is structured in such a way as to provide for differences in personal development and rates of learning. Throughout the school, children are provided with opportunities to develop the spoken word and increase their listening skills. Good provision is made to support those children who display temporary or longer term learning difficulties. We actively encourage children to take pride in their work.
